About the Artist: Jayne Behman’s artwork is collected worldwide. She works in all media and shows her glass and paintings in various Galleries. A graduate of U.C.L.A. in fine arts, she has worked towards her Masters Degree in Fine Arts at the Academy of Arts in San Francisco.
Jayne has significant experience in successfully executing public art projects in a broad variety of media including a 52 foot painted mural for the City of Palm Springs, two Big Horn Sheep for Sidney and Alexandra Sheldon, the first Trash can that stands in the City of Morro Bay, and a selection for the Cottage Hospital Healthy Art Program with the fabulous ceramic-decorated “Bunny Bench” placed in the sculpture garden.
Her studio in Baywood (Los Osos), California, is the energy center for her creations. A teacher of the arts for over 40 years, she paints for herself. Painting is about the paint. Inspiration comes from the media and the best results come from unconscious application.
This Surf Board public art project appeals to Jayne because of its multipurpose…(1) public awareness of the Arts, (2) creative challenge, and (3) 10% of the sales proceeds will benefit programs that serve children with physical challenges.
“Being able to Create is a gift from a higher power”, believes Jayne. Giving back to others through this creative gift is her way of saying “Thanks”.
